Going Mobile, CBS Way
CBS News Mobile is simple in design and yet rich in presentation. It starts with five choices for users to choose for different media and content: (1) sections (2) videos, (3) shows, (4) alerts, and (5) weather. The homepage presents top story headlines neatly placed, followed by a further choice button “See All”.
Once a top story headline is clicked, web viewers will be able to view the full story. At the end of each story, web viewers are given further different choices: (1) view full story, (2) next top story, (3) related pictures, (4) related stories, (5) back to section home, and (6) see all sections. To share stories, two most popular sharing channels are offered: twitter and delicious.
CBS News Mobile also offers web viewers platforms to work as citizen journalists to report local and hyperlocal news. And citizen reports around the world are also presented.
Although still some room for improvement, CBS Mobile provides an example of what is mobile journalism about.
